Centuries

Weft: Material: wool, dyed, natural Spin/Ply: 5 spun Density: 55-57in.
Decoration/Surface:Technique: weft-faced slit tapestry weave; curved

Remarks: Pattern of segmented and pearled diagonal bands joined
by small bosses into a lozenge pattern, each centering a lobate
elipse, in an overall arrangement indicates that this was a large
textile cut into a garment possibly, or used as a hanging, at leaast
initially. The thickness may imply use as a floor-spread. Spin of
materials indicates Egypt but the materials and techniques are mobile
and an origin further East is not impossible
