Origin:Egypt, Alexandria Type:Fragment of a Material Band, Period: 5th Century
Warp: Material: wool, beige, natural Spin/Ply: 5 spun Density: 25 facing warps/in. (x2)
Weft: Material: wool, dyed, natural Spin/Ply: 5 spun Density: 15in. in ground weave
Decoration/surface:Technique: warp-faced, plain weave ground, slit-tapestry, curved wefts, twining
Density: paired warps 13in.; wefts 40-52in. in pattern weave
Remarks:Fragment of clavus band with dancing figures in brown-black. Woven sideways with paired warps in decorated area.
