Origin: Egypt, Alexandria, Type: Remains of Looped Pile Hanging, Period: 3rd Century Warp:Material: linen, tan, natural Spin/Ply: 5 spun Density: 70/in Weft:Material: linen, tan, natural Spin/Ply: 5 spun; triples in 1 shed every 1/7 in, Density: 43-45/in Decoration/Surface: Material: wool dyed red, tan-pink, brown-black Spin/Ply: 5-2-7 Technique: a)weft loops uncut (boucle') OR b)continuos supplementary uncut loops, Density horizontal 7 x vertical 7in; over 7 warps on average. Finishes: applied 5-3-7 natural linen cord. Remarks: Unusual heart-in-heart pattern
